Getting married at St Michael’s
“Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things”.
1 Corinthians 13.4-7
We are delighted that you are considering getting married in church. For helpful information and answers to your questions, please visit the fantastic website from the Church of England at http://www.yourchurchwedding.org/.

A Thanksgiving service, also known as a Naming Ceremony, Blessing, or Dedication, is available to everyone, regardless of church attendance or self-identification as a Christian.
It is a beautiful service that expresses gratitude to God for the life of your child, seeks God's protection, and asks for guidance in raising the child. The minister will pray for you and your child, and a candle symbolizing Jesus' light will be given. Godparents can also be appointed to support the child.
The service can be arranged outside normal service times, accommodating family celebrations and personal preferences for music.
Baptism is a significant step in response to the gift of new life in Jesus. It signifies a personal allegiance to Jesus and a commitment to the life, fellowship, and worship of the Church.
Baptism is a public declaration of faith and is typically conducted during a Sunday service with a large congregation. The form of baptism can be either sprinkling with water from the font or total immersion in a pool. It is a joyful moment for the congregation to welcome new members and reflect on their own profession of faith.
Children of Christian parents are also baptised, based on the faith of the parents and the expectation that they will teach their children about Jesus and living as disciples. It is an affirmation that children belong to Jesus from the start of their lives. During the baptism service, parents and godparents are asked about their faith and publicly declare their love for God and discipleship of Jesus. It is expected that parents will be actively involved in the church community, attending Sunday worship and growing in faith.
To take the next steps or make specific inquiries, we invite you to join us on a Sunday morning at 10:30 am to meet a member of the clergy and experience the church community. For specific inquiries, please contact us via email: hello@marlbrook.org.
